PROQUIP, the world's leading innovator of lightweight golf weatherwear and official supplier of rain suits to The 2010 European Ryder Cup Team, has welcomed the appointment of Colin Montgomerie as Captain.
As the most selected weatherwear supplier in the history of The Ryder Cup, to both European and USA Teams, ProQuip has worked closely with numerous Captains – and according to Richard Head, ProQuip’s managing director and chief designer, Monty will be an inspirational leader and a great associate in designing the rain suit for next year’s contest at The Celtic Manor Resort, in Wales.
"I have fitted suits for Colin in previous Ryder Cups and I know he will make an outstanding captain," said Head. "I am very much looking forward to designing the team suit with Monty and know he will be meticulous in his approach to the fabric technology and design."
In the previous two Ryder Cups, ProQuip has worked closely with the respective Captains – Ian Woosnam 2006, Nick Faldo 2008 – to develop exclusive new waterproof materials. Head is now looking forward to doing the same again in 2010.
For the 2006 Ryder Cup at The K Club, ProQuip developed SilkTouch, the lightest, softest and quietest suit ever, which proved essential in The European Team victory after the heavens opened during the match.
Then for Valhalla in 2008, ProQuip developed TourFlex, the world’s first ultra-lightweight, plain weave fabric with two-way stretch throughout.
Head added: "We are always looking at ways to develop the technology behind our suits to make sure they have everything Europe's best professional golfers need. We are already working on some exciting new lightweight and stretchable fabric technologies to show Monty, and cannot wait to start working on the designs for the 2010 suits."
